The main objective of the Master’s Degree in Digital Innovation is to train professionals capable of innovating and bringing to market the results of research and innovation in cutting-edge technologies. Therefore, the Master program not only prepares students to be the best potential technologists in their specialisation, but it also pursues that they acquire an entrepreneurial mind-set that allows them to anticipate the changes that occur due to new technologies (in their specialisation) and devise and develop new products that remain at the forefront of these changes, as well as translating those innovations into feasible business solutions. To do so, the master program devotes 30 ECTS to training on innovation and entrepreneurship, and 60 ECTS for the technical specialization, plus a final project of 30 ECTS.

From the perspective of innovation and entrepreneurship, the degree emphasizes two main elements:

  • On one hand, to provide a set of basic knowledge to students, and to provide them with the skills and tools necessary to think the process of digital innovation in "trade terms" (not just the technological perspective that is in the technical subjects of the master program). Specifically, the intention is to provide students with the skills and tools needed to develop business models and eventually to launch their own business project or perform similar activities in a pre-existing company (for example, to launch a new product and service of ICT or a new business unit in a company not necessarily in the field of ICTs).
  • On the other hand, to provide the student with the necessary competences so that a specific and commercial project can be developed.

The Master’s Degree in Digital Innovation includes five specialties: Data Science, Human Computer Interaction and Design, Health and Medical Data Analysis, Digital Manufactuting and Financial Technologies.

Currently a professional in Digital Innovation must be able to work in an international context. The master program train the students to it by introducing a mandatory international mobility right into the structure of the master: one academic year will be held mandatorily abroad at another university. Students can choose the first year (entry) or the second (exit) to study abroad.
